Town of View Royal Welcomes New Director of Finance

The Town of View Royal is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Vella, CPA, CGA as its new Director of Finance. A seasoned municipal finance professional, Vella has spent 16 of his 17 years in municipal finance working with View Royal and brings extensive experience in financial management and strategic planning to his new role.

“Steven’s deep knowledge of municipal finance, combined with his years of service to View Royal, makes him an excellent choice to lead our Finance Department,” said Mayor Sid Tobias. “Council is confident that his leadership and expertise will ensure continued financial stability for our community.”

Vella has held various financial leadership roles throughout his career, most recently serving as the Town’s Manager of Accounting. He briefly worked for the City of Victoria before returning to View Royal, where he has played a pivotal role in budgeting, financial reporting, and long-term fiscal planning. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Laurentian University.

“I’m honoured to step into this new role and continue working with the dedicated team at the Town of View Royal,” said Vella. “I look forward to supporting Council’s priorities and ensuring responsible financial management that benefits our residents and businesses.”

Vella will officially assume his new position on Monday, March 31, 2025.
